Buccaneers reveal new kit

Every war has its battle; every battle has its victory; every victory has its hero; and every hero has his weapons and armour. Ahead of next season’s battle for supremacy, Orlando Pirates and adidas have once again combined to reveal the armour that the Mighty Buccaneers will don when they take to the field.

Today’s launch of the 2015/16 away kit gives the players and fans an opportunity to see a power red mist descend upon the Bidvest Stadium pitch this weekend when Orlando Pirates put their new jersey to the test when they entertain AS Kaloum in the CAF Confederations Cup Playoff second leg.

With the armband and dotted mesh around his arm, and a brand new V-necked collar, Oupa Manyisa will lead his men out of the dressing room at their temporary home-away-from-home in what will be the brightest and most vibrant away jersey that the Soweto Giants have sported in recent memory, thanks to the lighter red grading that blends itself upwards from the base of the shirt to the chest.

With the famous badge in 3D across the heart and the unmistakeable skull and cross bones embossed at the back, the 2015/16 jersey continues with the trend of not only being a top quality piece of football apparel, but also a fashionable garment off the field.

Adrian De Souza, Senior Category Manager at adidas South Africa was excited with the jersey, alluding positively that, “This will be a trendy jersey that further entrenches a strong emotional connection with the Club and stimulates a pride in the jersey, particularly amongst the young supporters.”

True to form, the jersey is packed with adidas technologies which are geared to give the players a competitive edge on the field. With TechFit™ we are sure to see the likes of Thabo Matlaba and Sifiso Myeni tearing down the flanks with improved speed and endurance, thanks to the technology’s help in stabilising muscles, focussing energy and generate explosive acceleration to deliver maximum power output. ClimaCool™ technology will provide a mixture of heat and moisture controlling materials, ventilation channels and 3D fabrics to improve air flow to the skin in key heat zones meaning that when Thandani Ntshumayelo and Issa Sarr are heating things up in the engine room, ClimaCool ensures that they remain optimally cool.

The new away jersey is available for ladies, kids as well as infants (baby grows) and will be available at adidas Performance Stores as well as key sports and football retailers countrywide on Tuesday 9 June at the recommended retail price of R699.
