Clever Boys to visit Usuthu
AmaZulu will play host to Bidvest Wits in an Absa Premiership match at the King Zwelithini Stadium on Wednesday.
Kick-off is at 19h30.
Usuthu were defeated 4-1 by Lamontville Golden Arrows in their previous league match at the Princess Magogo Stadium on Sunday.
This was AmaZulu’s second defeat of the season out of four league matches. They have registered one win, one draw and two defeats.
As a result, AmaZulu are placed 13th on the league table with four points from four matches. They are only two points behind fifth-placed Mamelodi Sundowns.
Sadate Ouro-Akoriko, who scored against Arrows, has hit the ground running since rejoining Usuthu. The defender will look to help the club keep a cleansheet against Wits.
AmaZulu head coach Cavin Johnson will look to mastermind a victory over the defending league champions which would see Usuthu move back into the top eight.
Meanwhile, Wits fought back to hold Kaizer Chiefs to a 1-1 stalemate in their previous league match at the FNB Stadium on Saturday.
This was the Clever Boys’ second draw of the season out of four league games. They have recorded two defeats and two draws.
Wits are placed 14th on the league standings with two points from four games. They are only a point above the relegation zone.
Gavin Hunt, the Clever Boys head coach, will look to striker Amr Gamal, who scored against Chiefs, to inspire Wits to their first league win of the season.
The last time AmaZulu and Wits clashed in an Absa Premiership match was on 10 March 2015 at the Moses Mabhida Stadium.
Usuthu won 3-1 thanks to three goals from Mbulelo Mabizela, Goodman Dlamini and Bonginkosi Ntuli, while Papy Faty netted for Wits.
