DStv is adding SS7 – the home of La Liga to the Family package
DStv is adding SuperSport 7 – the home of La Liga – to its Family package, and the timing could not be better for football fans.
Provided the much-anticipated El Clasico goes ahead (Wednesday, December 18 at 9pm), a bigger swathe of DStv viewers will be able to watch Barcelona against Real Madrid with SS7 being made available permanently to subscribers of the DStv Family package from Friday, December 13.
In October, unrest in Catalonia led to a general strike which forced the postponement of Clasico to mid-December, but there is a sense that the situation has only temporarily calmed down since. Emergency meetings continue between football and government officials but at this stage La Liga officials remain confident that the game will proceed.
Should it go ahead, expectations are that the margins will be tight given how the two powerhouses of European football are deadlocked at the top of the La Liga standings, separated only by goal difference.
Lionel Messi’s Barcelona are unbeaten in the last six league Clasicos (home and away) and have only lost against Real Madrid four times in the last 22 La Liga meetings, stretching back 11 years.
But history will count for little: such is the form of both teams that Zinedine Zidane and his side have one of their best chances to go to the Camp Nou and come away with three points.
The action is all on SS7, and the lead up to kick-off will feature some of the best El Clasico clashes of recent times.
By way of an appetiser, Barcelona travel to Real Sociedad this Saturday (5pm) while Real Madrid are away to Valencia on Sunday (10pm).
Both fixtures form part of the La Liga feast on SS7 – with all 10 of this weekend’s matches live on the World of Champions.
