Man City to off-load Toure and other top players
The Telegraph is reporting that Yaya Toure – and five other major players – will be put up for sale by Manchester City once their disappointing 2014/15 season comes to an end.
Ivory Coast powerhouse Toure is one of six players the Citizens are prepared to jettison once the current campaign is complete, according to The Telegraph. The others are Samir Nasri, Edin Dzeko, Gael Clichy, Aleksandar Kolarov and Stevan Jovetic.
Wolfsburg’s Kevin De Bruyne, Juventus’ Paul Pogba, Liverpool’s Raheem Sterling and Everton’s Ross Barkley make up the list of targets to replace the under-performing stars.
Toure, who captained his national team to Africa Cup of Nations glory earlier this year, is reportedly a target for Italian giants Inter Milan, though his high wages could be a stumbling block in a potential sale.
Manager Manuel Pellegrini is also under intense scrutiny and his job is on the line after a poor run of results, which culminated in a 4-2 defeat to Manchester United on Sunday.
Toure, 31, has been at City since 2010. He has made over 200 appearances for the club and scored 61 goals, helping them claim two Premier League titles, the 2011 FA Cup and 2014 League Cup.
