Vilakazi among the best in the AFCON Dream Team
Although they were booted out of the 2015 CAF Africa Cup of Nations tournament in the first round, Bafana Bafana midfielder Sibusiso Vilakazi has been picked in the tournament’s dream team.
Dubbed the CAF’s ‘Dream Team’ for the 2015 Acon, the Bidvest Wits man makes his entry after starting two Bafana games.
Bafana lost to Algeria and Ghana and played to a 1-1 draw against the Lions of Teranga which saw them finish at the bottom of what was termed the group of death, Group C.
The triumphant Elephants of Cote d’Ivoire are a dominant side with five players, including the Toure brothers Yaya and Kolo, as well as Manchester City new signing Wilfried Bony.
Losing finalists, the Black Stars of Ghana were represented by the tournament’s top scorer Andre Ayew and defender Jonathan Mensah.
However, the Black Stars winger Christian Atsu – who was named player of the tournament – was omitted from the list which is somewhat strange.
CAF’s Technical Committee selected the Dream Team after the final on Monday.
