Zwane Expects Mental Affair In Second Leg

When Mamelodi Sundowns lined up to take the field against Egyptian Giants, Al Ahly noone would have predicted a 5-0 thumping in favour of The Brazilians.

It was Themba Zwane, who opened the flood gates as early as the 14th minute in what many call the ‘Match Of The Century’ against the ‘Club Of The Century’. With so much riding on the result of the second leg, Zwane believes the battle will be more mental than physical.

“I think the second leg will be more mental than physical, as Al Ahly will be throwing everything they have at us. What happened to them at Lucas Moripe was not something you see everyday or what you would expect against the continent’s most successful club. Actually you can say it was a shock to their system”

Mshishi, who has been enjoying a great run of form, especially in the CAF Champions League is of the opinion that Al Ahly will be more dangerous but even more  vulnerable in the second leg and might just be too open at the back, as a result of desperation to go foward.

“I belive we should be a little bit more cautious and I think it will be wise for us not to get too excited and get tricked into playing an open game because I’m sure that’s exactly what they (Al Ahly) would want us to do. They have everything to lose and play for, so if we play on that, then they might just play right into our hands”

“We have done it before against Zamalek in the second leg and I belive we can do it again. The longer the game goes without them scoring, the better for us because they will start getting frustrated and when that happens mistakes will creep in their game and we can catch them on a break. Noone can precisely predict the exact game plan or how it will play out but either way Al Ahly will go all out attack but with the speed and ball movement Sundowns possess, we might just catch them at the back earlier or later in the match”

The second leg of this much anticipated CAF Champions League quarterfinals clash will now take place at the Borg El Arab Stadium in Alexandria on Saturday, 13 April 2019.
