Chiefs beat TTM to move to 7th on the log
Kaizer Chiefs beat Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila 3-0 at FNB Stadium in Soweto on Tuesday for a third straight win in the 2020-21 DStv Premiership season.
Goals from Nkosingiphile Ngcobo, Lebogang Manyama and Happy Mashiane moved the Amakhosi up to seventh on the league standings and 10 points off top spot. TTM, who have only won once this season, remain in 15th spot after conceding three goals for the second time in three matches.
Chiefs suffered an early setback in the 15th minute as Ramahlwe Mphahlele was forced from the field due to injury, but opened the scoring four minutes later. Samir Nurkovic picked out Nkosingiphile Ngcobo who flicked the ball over the onrushing Nicholus Lukhubeni inside the penalty area before driving home a left-footed volley, for his second goal in as many matches.
After having successfully weathered a spell of Vhadau Vha Damani pressure, Chiefs doubled their advantage with Manyama’s first touch of the game in the 66th minute. Mashiane, who had also emerged off bench as a second-half substitute, picked out Manyama who fired into an empty net within 15 second after making his way onto the pitch.
TTM’s day went from bad to worse as Alfred Ndengane received his marching orders in the 84th minute, on the day of his 34th birthday.
Scorer then turned provider as Manyama teed up Mashiane for his second goal of the season. The left-footed winger lost his marker before directing a powerful first time effort past Washington Arubi in the 90th minute to put the game beyond any reasonable doubt.
Chiefs also ended the game with 10-men as Bernard Parker saw red in second-half stoppage-time, also following a second bookable offence. But it mattered little in the context of the match as Gavin Hunt’s men continued their match up the league standings.
